Poppy’s disposition was as sweet as sunshine after a storm. She was truly one of a kind. She brought light and joy to all she met. Affectionate, funny, and playful, she could steal the hardest of hearts. She had the purest heart and soul.

It’s hard to believe that this little girl was once tossed out like trash after being overbred well into her senior years. Picked up wandering the streets of Texarkana, she was relegated to being forgotten in the city shelter. She was in danger of euthanasia when a volunteer put out a plea for a foster for Texarkana Animal League to try to save her. I happened to see it shared on Facebook by a mutual friend. I stepped up, and on 9/27/2017, I brought her to my home.

She was in such bad physical shape. She was blind, and estimated to be around ten years old. It took a lot of time and money to bring her back to health, but she was worth it.

I knew all along that Poppy was not going to leave. I fell in love pretty much immediately. She had been so neglected and abused. I was determined to make up for it for the rest of her life, however long that would be.

And that is exactly what I did. I have spent the last four years, one month, and three days loving her, spoiling her, and being thankful to get to be her true forever home.

I said goodbye to my princess physically, but love is eternal.

Poppy, wait for Mama at the Bridge. Thank you for being the best companion and blessing I could have ever asked for. I love you, my sweet angel. Until we meet again.
